• Is there a minimum age restriction?

    The course is designed for all those 6 years and over.  Please note that an adult (aged 16+) is required to accompany any child under 8. One adult can acompany up to 2 children.

  • What should I wear?

    For your own safety:

    • wear comfortable clothing suitable for climbing - preferably trousers or long shorts 
    • wear sensible footwear - trainers are ideal.
    • remove jewellery.
    • tie back long hair.

  • What safety measures are in place?

    A state of the art auto-belay system ensures that the course is a safe.

  • Are there weight and height restrictions?

    Partcipants must be a minimum height of 1.1m and a maximum weight of 115 kilos/ 18 stone.

  • How high is the course?

    The course is between 4m and 6m high

  • What are your opening hours?

    We are open to the public every weekend throughout the year and every day in school holidays.  Group bookings can be made for any date throughout the year.

  • How long are the sessions?

    Public sessions run for 1.5 hours including kit up.

  • Is there a disclaimer to sign?

    Our course rules and safety information are included on your booking confirmation email.  Your instructor will also remind you of these during your briefing.  Participation is therefore deemed acceptance of the course rules, which are:


    It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure that they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

    • Gloves should be worn to protect hands.
    • Shoes should be appropriate for the course.  Open toed sandals, slip on shoes and flip flops are not allowed.
    • Long hair should be tied back and necklaces, earrings, piercings and rings removed or covered over with tape. 

    Participants must be a maximum of 115k/18 stone.


    An adult (aged 16 or over) needs to accompany 6 and 7 year olds on the course, as they may require assistance with clipping. 

    One adult may supervise uo to 4 children.


    An adult must be present throughout the session, for those aged 8-16 years of age.  The adult may be on the ground.


    Pregnant women and those with a pacemaker may not participate.  Note that our auto belay systems use magnets.


    It is recommended that those with the following conditions do not participate: Any major illness, blackouts/dizziness, bronchial illness, back/neck complaints, diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions or any recent injuries/operations. Please consult your doctor if you have any doubts as to whether you can participate.

  • Am I able to change or cancel a booking?

    Our right to cancel

    We are an all-weather venue and activities remain open in most conditions apart from lightening, gales and heavy snow and ice.  Should it be necessary to close the activity, we will endeavour to contact you and you will then have the opportunity to rebook or receive a full refund.

     

    Moving bookings, cancellations and refunds


    • Up to 7 days prior to your activity date you can cancel an existing booking and receive a full refund or move it to another day subject to availability.  Please email info@adventurebristol.co.uk to request the refund due with details of your booking reference, date, time and name
    • Within 7 days of the activity date you will not be entitled to cancel your booking, or receive any refunds for cancellations.  
    • Up to 48 hours before the activity, you can move the time of the activity to a different time on the same day (subject to availability).  Any requests to do so must be made by emailing info@adventurebristol.co.uk.  Please have your order reference number to hand.

    No refund or compensation will be payable if a participant is not permitted to, or decides not to undertake an activity.

     

    No Shows

    A no show is when a customer intentionally or non-intentionally misses their booked event; in this case the customer is not entitled to a refund or rescheduling. 


  • Are dogs allowed on site?

    Dogs are welcome on the land around the course.

  • Are refreshments available?

    Cafes are located at the main Mansion House and by the Golf Course car park.


    Parties of 8 or more are welcome to bring a Birthday picnic and/or cake to eat in one of our canopied woodland picnic areas.  

  • Are there toilets on site?

    Toilets are located at the main Mansion House cafe and by the Golf Course car park.

  • Do the sessions run in bad weather?

    We are an all weather venue and remain open in most conditions, apart from lightning, gales, heavy snow and ice.  Should it be necessary to close the activity, we will endeavour to contact you to offer you the opportunity to rebook or receive a refund.

  • Do you take Birthday party bookings?

    We cater for all sizes of groups.  For Birthday parties, please just book online. If you don't have the names of all the attendees when making the booking, just enter AAA in the name field.  Note that we require a primary contact detail and contact numbers for any guardians/parents of those you book for.

  • Do you take group bookings?

    We cater for all sizes of groups.  For Birthday parties, please just book online.

  • Are gift cards available?

    Gift cards may be purchased all year.  Please check out our Gift Cards page - they make the perfect present!

    Our state of the art “smart belay x” ensures that the course is very safe by using a double clip safety system.  


    It enables participants to navigate the course on their own whilst ensuring that they are always clipped on.

  • How challenging is the course?

    Participants can experience our three different routes (easy, medium and hard) or they can repeat easier loops if they prefer.

  • How high is the course?

    The course ranges from 4m to 6m high.

  • How long are the sessions?

    Sessions run for 1.5 hours including kit up and safety briefing.  We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the start time.

  • Is there a party area?

    We have two canopied party areas in the woodland, that can be used for up to 45minutes after the session on the course.  If you plan to use this area then please bring your own refreshments, cutlery (knife and lighter for the cake!) and rubbish bags.


    Please note that there are no electrics or running water at the party area. Please ensure all rubbish is taken away with you.


    A table and seating is now provided in addition to the woodland log seating under the canopy.


    Alternatively there are two cafes at Ashton Court, located near the Mansion House and Golf Course.

    We are situated in Summerhouse Plantation in the beautiful Ashton Court woodland, with the tree canopy providing some protection from the rain.
